December 17, 2007.
Reggaetton singer Arcángel plays Kalil in the first puertorican “callejero film genre” movie. Kalil is one of the lead characters of this puertorican movie that is produced by Jeancarlo Rodríguez and Doel Alicea for Producciones Nuevo-Enfoque. Arcangel who is best known for his music, accept the proposal of Jeancarlo Rodríguez to be one of the leading actors in this film. “Many reggaetton singers tried to make films but is importante to have a great story and a great cast. Muerte en el paraíso have both, a great story and a great cast” says Rodríguez.
“One of the most important things of this film is that we have reggaetton singers Arcangel, Jomar, MJ, TNT, OG Black and Guayo Man in our cast, but also have a group of great actors like Alfonsina Molinari, Magali Carrasquillo, Doel Alicea, Aniel Rosario, Virginia Romero and Jeancarlo Rodríguez. This gave the movie a different dimension. Is not only a reggaetton movie, is a movie inside the reggaetton world”, explain Abimael Acosta Portalatín, director and writer of the film.
"Muerte en el Paraiso" is a story of love, passion and suspense inside the reggaetton and fashion world. The fashion and the music is used to cover the illegal business of Lavie and Istar. Kalil (Arcangel character in the film) tries to be a famous singer with his brother Aviel (actor Omar Miranda) but their sexy manager (actress Alfonsina Molinari) used both to cover the illegal business that she and her husband Istar (actor Jeancarlo Rodríguez) have. “Muerte en el Paraíso looks very sexy, but is a very intense story that reveals the multiple dimensions of the human nature” says Rodríguez who also plays Istar in the movie.
“Muerte en el Paraíso” created a great expectation in Puerto Rico, Perú, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia and other spanish speaking countries, but we want to expand our horizons by using english subtitles for our movie”, says Doel Alicea, associate producer of the film.
